This was my outfit for the RACE since it was on St. Patty's day!
This half marathon was super hard for me! I struggled the whole time. Half marathons are long, but usually I push through just fine! But this half marathon was extra hard. In my training I have done two 14 mile runs to prepare, so it was frustrating not feeling good while running like I did during my training runs. I am guessing I did not feel the best running because I have been sick with strep throat! It is even more frustrating because I have a FULL marathon to run in a little more than a month and half.
Alex, Jess and I got to the DC area around 5:00pm on Friday night. We headed straight to the expo to get our swag bag and our running bibs! We also looked through the expo and saw some really neat things.
We then headed to the place we were staying. A good family friend of Alex's was sweet enough to host us for the night. We dropped our stuff off and then headed out to dinner. We went to a really good local Italian restaurant. It was delicious. I got spaghetti and meatballs! My favorite!
We tried to get to bed early, but I don't sleep well when I am not in my own bed! I woke up before my alarm clock went off. I think I was very anxious and excited! After we were all ready, we loaded the car and we were off. On our way we stopped and got some coffee and bagels! Yum! We made it to the start time around 7:55am! Perfect timing for the 8am start time! By the time our corral left it was around 8:30!
Here are some pictures from the whole day! :) It was a gorgeous one with lots of sun! I actually got a little burnt!
The Sun Rising! :)

Waiting for the race to start!
The starting line!
This band had steel drums, with the sunning shining and these playing, I felt like I was in the South!
Our number one FAN! :)
After the race we drove back to PA and then I spent the rest of the day relaxing with Kurt! I was exhausted from the long weekend!
I am hoping that my long run this coming Saturday goes better than the half marathon and that I am feeling 100 percent better soon! :)
Have a wonderful week!
Wow, so proud of you both!! How fun, wish I could've done it with you!
