Fall Adventures!

I love fall! It is by far my favorite season. Growing up, I would always say Summer was my favorite season, but this year I have realized it is not. This past summer, I was in school. So summer was not "summer" for me. I realized that summer is too hot, unless you are able to lounge around the pool all day or sit on the beach, then I would love it to be hot. Summer is not fun when you have things to do and places to be. But I have discovered fall is perfect. It is not to cold, and not to hot. You can bundle up and feel perfect. I love the smell of fall- crisp and cool. During the fall months, you can find anything in pumpkin. Pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin colored shoes, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin ravioli's, pumpkin colored shirts, pumpkin bagels, pumpkin candles (Which I am currently burning!) and even pumpkin cream cheese. I love pumpkins and anything that has to do with pumpkins. This is another reason why I love fall. Fall is also very pretty with pretty changing leaves.

This past weekend, Kurt and I visited Kurt's sister Kori and her husband, Steve. We did fally things and celebrated fall. Here was our bucket list of things we wanted to accomplish this past weekend.

1. Carve Pumpkins.
2. Bake an apple pie.
3. Drink fall drinks- pumpkin or apple cider.
4. Go to a corn maze.
5. Watch a scary movie.
6. Take Chester to the dog park.
7. Take fun fall pictures :)
8. Have a bonfire.
9. Burn a fall smelling candle.
10. Go to the "signs" store in Hanover. (I love quotes/signs, and Kori told me about this awesome store)

We accomplished the following from our bucket list:

1. Looked at pretty pumpkins- but unfortunately did not carve them. :(
2. Tasted different types of apples at an orchard and made a delicious apple pie. :)
3. Drank apple cider.
4. Went to a corn maze, but did not complete it. CORN mazes are hard. Especially when you do not have a map!
5. Kori turned on "Children of the Corn" by Stephen King, but I of course freaked out and decided I did not want to have nightmares. Therefore we did not watch a scary movie.
6. Chester was under the weather cause he had surgery on friday, so we played with him inside instead of at the dog park.
7. We took many fun fall pictures at the orchard and throughout the weekend!
8. Had a fire and roasted marshmellows!
9. Kori has many wonderful candles- including a pumpkin candle, that we burned all weekend! It smelled delicious!
10. We went to TJ Maxx instead of the "signs" store. I have to many signs/quotes already for our small apartment. TJ Maxx was oodles of fun!

Here are some pretty pictures from the weekend! Yay for fall!

We had a blast at the Haines! :) Can not wait to go back!

Our First Little Apartment!

Finally, I post! Things are always crazy busy and it is hard to find time to post! But after recently reading other blogs religiously, it has inspired me to post more, so that I will have these memories someday when I am older and forget what happened when I was younger.

Kurt and I moved into our first apartment this past July. Our apartment is on the 3rd floor and of course we decided to move in on the hottest day of the summer- the car thermometer read over 100 degrees and it surely felt like it was 120 degrees. We did not have air conditioning. Thanks to our amazing friends and family- we moved in, in record time, a little over an hour. We really could not be more thankful for everyone who helped us on that very hot day- we are blessed.

The apartment was left filthy from the previous renters. We scrubbed the apartment from top to bottom and it took us about a week of straight scrubbing. Thankfully Kurt had not yet started school and he had time to clean and scrub while I was in school. After we finally got the apartment squeaky clean, we started to unpack.  Three months later we are finally unpacked and our apartment feels like a home. We love the area we are in, only a 4 minute walk to class and a 7 minute walk to the hospital for clinical. There are so many good restaurants and pretty parks close by that keep us entertained. We are slowly adjusting to city life and we are starting to love living in the city. Who knew these country people would adjust so well to living in the city.

Here are some pictures of our new home:

 Decorations made from Pinterest!

Our chairless desk- need to get a chair!

Kurt's pretty dresser! (Again Pinterest creations)

Friends- come visit, there is a futon to sleep on! :)

Where we spend most of our time! :)

I love having two levels- the upstairs looks over our living room!

Picture taken from upstairs!

I love this quote that my Aunt got us for our apartment!

Kurt's favorite place to lay.

I love the cast iron railing.

 Favorite Mirror!

A new favorite color is green...

... and turquoise/teal!

Meet our pet (well technically Kurt's pet) but he shares! His name is
Jefferson Tyrell! We call him Jeffy!

Driving back to Philly.

In his new fish bowl! He loves to hide, I can never get a picture of him. But he is red with turquoise spots and he loves to swim laps around his fish bowl. I feel bad for him- seems like a pretty boring life. I hope he is happy though!

The Start of Something New!

Today is Kurt's first day of Medical School at Thomas Jefferson.  Now we are both officially students at Thomas Jefferson, how exciting. Kurt and I have graduated from Scott Middle School together, Coatesville Senior High School, and West Chester University. Now we will both be graduates of Thomas Jefferson.

West Chester Graduation 2012

This past month has been full of adventures! Kurt and I moved into our first apartment in Philly. It is about a 5 minute walk to Jefferson, which is the best! I am so happy to not be commuting any more. Here are some pictures of our new place! Special thanks to our AWESOME friends for helping us move to our new home in 100 degree weather! They rocked it!

We used our muscles!

It was HOT!

 Dinner for two!

Funny Story: Kurt and I walked the mile to Kmart, and then tried to carry this AC home to our apartment, we made it about a half a mile and due to the VERY hot 100 degree weather and the heaviness, we had to call a cab. We are so thankful for the AC!

Our visitors!

Bikes make navigating the City so much easier!

We are finally 95% unpacked and can enjoy the apartment. We are learning about the city and we love that everything is so close. There is so much to do and we are so excited to discover everything the city has to offer! <3
